Broadcom offers value given high earnings growth relative to valuation; stock may rise if AI sales exceed $16 billion.

What do you expect from Broadcom today? I mean, significant growth is expected, but what are the numbers you're waiting for that will be enough to push stocks higher? You know, I think that's what I expect, and after the market closes we'll get a clearer picture of what's going to happen.
But even if they achieve record numbers, you are competing against Nvidia, whose numbers have been amazing by all standards. Therefore, it will be very difficult to surpass that.
I think this will put a lot of pressure on the stock, as their numbers will have to be phenomenal to push the stock up. From a technical perspective, the stock looks heavy. It looks as if something is weighing him down. Therefore, I am cautiously optimistic.
What does Broadcom need to do to stay on track, and to what extent have Nvidia's huge numbers raised expectations for them ? Broadcom is perfectly in line with this theory . I mean, they are one of the leading suppliers of chips in the field of artificial intelligence and "XPU" chips.
I believe there is a real gap between earnings growth and the valuation of this stock. I mean, this stock has dropped from around 470 to around 370. So, when you have 60% earnings per share growth and it's trading at a P/E multiple of 19 , I think there's an opportunity, and what I also see is that the earnings, sales and revenue forecasts are slightly below the guidance.
So, I think the atmosphere is set and straightforward ahead of Broadcom's report tonight. And Mike, why doesn't the market give Broadcom a higher multiplier?
Well, the first quarter was a bit disappointing, especially with regard to guidance. I think people wanted more. I mean, the most important number to watch tonight is their sales of AI semiconductors.
They predicted it would reach approximately $16 billion. I think the consensus expectations are actually a little lower than that . So, if they can break through the $16 billion mark, I think the stock will rise from here.
Vance, how much of an overshoot is required for this number? I don't think there's any argument about it being the most important metric here, and you're right, Mike , the consensus among analysts is less than 16 billion, just a little less .
But we have already seen that there must be superiority, and in most cases, a great superiority . What number does the market need to react positively, Vance?
Well, that's a difficult guess to make , but Mike is right, the demand for their custom artificial intelligence is very high and actually growing. I do n't really know what that number will be, but I know the tone of their call after the market closed and the way they presented things, especially the demand for custom AI, and as Mike said, it was very good.
I think this could have a significant impact on pushing the stock upwards. And I hope that will happen.
There is a lot of good news from Dell, and a lot of good news from Nvidia. You have to choose one, and if I had to choose, I would choose Dell and Nvidia over Broadcom at this point.
Mike, Broadcom has already talked about more than $100 billion in AI revenue for the fiscal year, but some memos I saw this morning are calling for between $130 billion and $140 billion .
I mean, how realistic are these predictions? Were we too hasty in our predictions for the figures they will announce today?
Yes, I mean this is a key number. Yes, I mean that figure of 100 billion in revenue there. So...my feeling is that the market is not expecting a figure as high as $140 billion.
I think they should confirm the 100 billion figure and perhaps go slightly above it in their discussions. Look, Broadcom should exceed its numbers in my opinion this quarter. Their tone should also be positive, and they should emphasize that the AI boom is still ongoing and that demand is still present in the guidance call that follows.
So, yes , you know, I just think if the stock had been at $470, expectations would have had to go way above that . But at this current valuation, I think if they can just deliver positive results, and exceed the consensus guidance and, frankly, their own guidance, then I think the stock has the potential to rise from here.
