CNQ is a strong holding for portfolio protection and commodity participation, supported by solid fundamentals and a long dividend track record.

Well, one company, the last one on your list here, CNQ, the Canadian Natural Resources company, is far from that. The stock has performed amazingly so far this year. And with all the talk about, you know, the trade skirmishes here between the US and Canada, I think Natural Resources is ignoring that, because CNQ's stock is near its highest point.

It is certainly benefiting from the levels we are seeing for oil prices at the moment. Because it operates in the oil sector as a major producer of oil sands, it benefits greatly from what we see in oil prices.

From an investment portfolio perspective, it's really good to have names like these to help protect against some of the extraordinary events that might occur. It is a very good hedging tool for the portfolio in general.

We love CNQ because it is simply, as you all know, an oil manufacturing company at its core.

They have made a lot of investments over many years to put in place the infrastructure needed to manufacture oil simply there in Alberta. We also have the advantage of having an excellent management team who are themselves major shareholders.

The company has a proven track record, I believe 26 consecutive years of dividend payouts, which included even the Covid period when oil prices turned negative. They were still raising their dividend payouts.

So, it's a very good company. Once again, going back to what we see as good ways to protect against the downside while being able to participate in the commodity price movements that we have all seen in the markets recently.
