How Brian Shannon’s view on $XLF changed

“Stock Market & Crypto Analysis for Week Ending 8/21/26”
XLF is in a normal pullback, not a breakdown; a close above 57.70 would turn it neutral on the intermediate term, and a normal pullback could bring it down to around $55.80-$56.

Financial stocks, they're starting to show a little bit of profit taking, and as I pointed out on Trader TV earlier this week, you know, they broke the 5-day moving average and they made a lower low.

Now, they're stuck below the 5-day moving average, and if they can get back above 57.70 and close there, then it turns them more neutral on the intermediate term. But unless if if they get stuck below this declining 5-day moving average, then I think you've got a pretty decent chance that a normal pullback it wouldn't destroy these things at all.
