Let's focus on Apple's chart going back to August 24th of 2011 up until today. That's the entirety of Tim Cook's tenure as CEO as John Turnis is set to take over tomorrow. Company's stock has soared over 2,000% during Tim's time leading the company.
Cook's impact on Apple is the focus of the morning trade. I mean, Tim Cook took over. You showed that chart there, August 2011, and he stepped in for Steve Jobs, who widely then and now is still thought of as one of the greatest innovators of our time.
So, he had big shoes to fill. Now, we're having the same conversation for John Turnis. But on his last day as CEO, we thought we might take a look back at some of the things that happened under Tim Cook in what seemed like impossibly large shoes to fill that have only gotten bigger.
He's had 15 years uh as CEO, but he did join Apple back in 1998. So, a very long tenure with the company. That isn't over. He is staying on. He's just not staying on as the CEO.
In those 15 years, he oversaw the introduction of numerous products and services, including new categories that are now a part of our everyday life. Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, services ranging from the iCloud to Apple Pay, Apple TV, Apple Music.
He was also instrumental in expanding the existing product lines. Specifically, he's credited with being the mastermind behind making the iPhone feel essential to everyday life.
all because of the advances that Tim Cook did in his time as CEO.
Uh there was a very interesting uh case study out of Harvard Business School describing Tim Cook and Apple and they talked about him managing to scale the iPhone to a level that no one would have thought was quote likely or possible over that period of time.
So really a testament to his work in terms of the product lineup.
But more than that, I mean, let's just look at the company itself. It's grown from a market cap of about $350 billion when he took over to $4 trillion. That's a more than,000% increase.
Yearly revenue has nearly quadrupled. It was 108 billion in fiscal year 2011. Now we're up to 416 billion in fiscal year 2015. So their stock more than 2,000% higher during that same time.
The company also, as we all remember, hit a $5 trillion market cap back in July. only the second company to ever reach that milestone after Nvidia. They also expanded their global footprint.
They now have more than 200 countries and territories. They operate 500 different retail stores, more than double the number of countries in which a customer can visit an Apple store in the country.
And during his tenure, he also grew more than a 100,000 team members over at Apple and increased its active installed base to more than 2 and a half billion devices.
But as we know, Cook was really uh focused on Apple services. A lot of the software advances were tied to him. During his tenure, that category has become a more than hundred billion dollar business. That's the equivalent of a Fortune 500 company.
He was also instrumental in creating the wearables category at Apple, which I I don't even really remember a time where there weren't wearables for Apple, but there certainly was.
Of course, the Apple Watch, the AirPods, I mean, these are just a part of everyday life. They're also having a profound impact on the health and wellness of the users, giving us a lot more information to keep ourselves healthy.
Um, and he's reduced the carbon footprint by nearly 60% below 2015 levels uh in a time in which revenue doubled. So, not just focusing on the products themselves, but also the sustainability of the products and how they interact uh with the broader world.
And John Turnis himself a hardware guy. He's been on the team since 2001, became an executive in 2021, but he's behind multiple product lines, iPad, AirPods, iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and more importantly, behind the Mac Neo, the MacBook Neo, which is a big new driver, this new laptop that makes the Mac experience more accessible to people around the world.
During his tenure, 877 billion shares were repurchased. Um, there's only like 10 11 maybe 12 companies bigger than that uh in terms of market cap in real time. So just extraordinary uh you know kind of financial stewardship as well as scale uh from Tim Cook and the team at Apple over the last 15 years.
How you looking at Apple? It's been kind of inverse to the rest of the AI trade. It's like the days that AI struggle and Apple gets like a safety bid or something.
Yeah. And that's that's kind of been the typical case here. It it we've seen some correlation. We've seen some contrarian behavior and today it's a little bit more contrarian than it is correlative.
Um but I really love the upside. They're they're in this kind of shape where they're trying to break out. Historically, they've had some really good rallies leading into these big iPhone events.
Uh the title itself is really intriguing and today they've had this pullback but it's it's right at the bounce zone of a small gap fill and right at these key technical levels.
So I love the 911 contracts the 325 strike calls. Uh when I was looking at them earlier they're trading around 420. I think you get them a lot cheaper right now. I would risk around 75% because I want to give every shot for Apple to work.
I think that as long as they stay above right around 310, they have every potential for hitting this really nice breakout to the upside, there's two gaps to fill, very notable around 333 to 338.
And if they get to those thresholds, they're easily going to exceed 125% gains. And so because the lower cost of premium, I think the risk values is still very very palatable.
And more importantly, again, if we see the stock making a move, you know, there's there's really good upside trajectory without much interference. And that's generally what I like.
I like potential breakout plays that can move easily without, you know, sellers trying to step in and buyers to take profits. I think this is definitely on watch if it could hold these levels.
