McDonald's might be the most interesting and surprising inclusion into my top stock rankings in 2026. I've calculated an upside of 28% given my fair value estimate at $340 and the current market price of $265.

McDonald's, like Visa, is a stock that rarely trades at this much of a discount compared to its fair value estimate. But the restaurant industry has faced significant headwinds in 2026.

In addition to some of the consumer trends like uh healthier lifestyles and uh increasing usage of weight loss treatments that have really reduced restaurant visitation in 2026.

Some of the bullish factors are innovation, which this is something that McDonald's hasn't really experienced for a few decades, but over the most recent 5 to 10 years, there's been a lot of innovation that's helped McDonald's business.

For one, the proliferation of food delivery networks. That's been a huge positive for McDonald's because now it can serve customers in increasing locations, increasing uh situations.

You don't have to leave your house to consume McDonald's anymore. It can be delivered to your home.

Additionally, drive-thru artificial intelligence and kiosks automated reduces the labor intensity of each McDonald's location, which makes it more attractive for franchises. And then on top of that, we've got robots that are now delivering food.

And all of that combines to make McDonald's a beneficiary of this technological innovation, which nobody is really

Second bullish factor for me for McDonald's is the customer value proposition it's able to provide and at the cost that it's able to deliver that value. McDonald's operates with operating profit margins north of 40%.

Each individual McDonald's location is very lucrative for franchises. Their process, the way they serve their product to customers allows them to deliver great value, arguably the lowest cost fast food provider in the world.

And they're able to do that at relatively low cost and leave a significant profit margin. That equation at that large scale with over 40,000 locations worldwide is a significant bullish factor for me when I'm evaluating McDonald's.

I don't own McDonald's stock in my portfolio, but I am interested in adding McDonald's stock. My hesitation has been the dividend. I'm trying to reduce dividend income for tax efficient investing purposes.

That's one of the main reasons why I haven't bought McDonald's stock just yet. Even though I think it's a great opportunity when just evaluating it based on the risk versus return.
