Nike faces significant headwinds from perceived low quality and high prices; current developments are insufficient to signal a bottom or recovery.

I know that you folks um you ask a lot about uh Nike. Let You know what? Let's start with the chart. Here's Nike ticker NK. I know that there's, you know, this is a a longtime uh really popular brand.

We we all know the naming power, all of that, of course, but boy oh boy, this stock has really been in trouble. The company's been in trouble, and everyone I talked to doesn't really seem to like the products.

Um, we've talked about, hey, is this bottomed? And frankly, it looks like it bottomed here and here and here, and all those times it continues to push lower. Where is the actual bottom?

And what do we actually need to see to feel convinced that the bottom is in? Might this be it?

Bill Aman says Nike's board pick Alexander Arno is a great is a great development for the struggling sportsware retailer. Is that going to be enough? I'm not too sure.

Their founder, Bill Aman, said Wednesday that Nike, ticker NK, decision to add deputy uh CEO of LVMH's Moette Hennessy division, Alexander Arno, to its board was a great development for the retailer, which is working through a multi-year slump.

That's putting it nicely. In a post on social media platform X, Aman said he was a fan of Arno and believed he could help the company, adding that quote, "Nike needs help." End quote. Indeed, that is true.

Arno joins the board as Nike struggles to gain traction on the win now turnaround plan that CEO Elliot Hill introduced after taking the role in September of 2024.

on September of uh on September 21. Nike will be removed from the S&P 100 index for the first time in 18 years. The retailer's biggest challenge remains its Nike sportsear and Jordan streetear business, both of which posted double-digit sales declines in the fourth quarter of 2026, a trend management expects to persist through fiscal 2027 before improving in the back half of the year.

Brandon here is saying Nike quality has definitely gone down. Um that I think is really one of the key drivers here, right? Uh I completely agree with that. I remember back when I was a kid, even though Nikes didn't fit me all that well, the products were definitely higher quality and the clothing was uh absolutely that producer says, "I don't know about the quality going down."

I am 100% certain that the quality has gone down. 100% certain.

I've also tried some of the products against other similar products, whether it's shoes, golf balls, dry fit apparel, hats, all of it. All of it. Nike. Uh I mean, maybe it's maybe it's just doesn't fit me as well.

But I don't think so. I think it's more than that. The quality is just not all that great.

Brandon says a,000%. A,000%. Um, I I I'm with this. I I I I I've seen this myself. Uh, I've seen this myself. So, and then producers also saying, I think Nike's downfall is in their pricing.

Uh, to be honest, as well, that part I absolutely agree with. And actually, I know a couple of shoe collectors that are just like, honestly, the price of these shoes are just not worth the price of some of the other shoes and they're just not desirable.

There's there doesn't seem to be that demand. Uh, a lot of the times a new shoe will come out. It'll have a premium price and then weeks later, like weeks later, the price will be slashed.

Sometimes um sometimes like really really slashed.

China has also been a persistent headwind for the company that with JP Morgan flagging that last month the ending online sales distribution with partner Poo Shang and Top Sports next year will create an annualized revenue hit of more than a billion dollars.

Yikes. Nike shares have fallen 43.84% year-to date and 50.82% over the past year, part of a longer decline that has seen the stock lose 77.3% of its value over the past five years.

So, what I would say here as far as the um as far as Nike goes is I understand that it's down 77%. But what is really going to be the catalyst? I Let me ask you, Brandon, you're you're very firm on on how you feel here about Nike.

What would it take for you to willingly purchase Nike products again? Is it just quality? Does it have to look better? Does it have to fit differently? Does it have to be something innovative?

Deco saying also lack vision in design. This is the shoe collectors that I talked to that care way more about this stuff and know way more about it than me. This is exactly what they're saying.

Deco, they're saying that the shoes that Nike produces, they're just not hip. They're not cool.

Kyrie Irving has a new shoe company um that I guess makes like unique shoes and things like that. They It's It's all the same. It's all the same. Um, yes to all of that.

Carmen saying, "What would cause me to buy Nike? Stop making it in China." Okay, there you go. Uh, Deco goes on to say, "It's a combination of things, which I completely agree with."

Um, it needs a complete revamp. And and I think so that's probably one of the reasons why this new board member is being so hyped or or uh looked forward to, right? Because this perhaps they could actually make change here and revamp some of these things.

Uh, Eb says, "Nike is too narrow for me. I go with New Balance." That's the same problem I have. Nike shoes fit incredibly tight, and Jordan shoes, although they're cool, they fit like boots. They feel like boots.

Lei says, "The image has changed over the years. It feels cheap now." And that's like like like that feeling that's going to be tough to shake. And I don't think you're going to be able to do that with one product.

You're going to have to have sustained product rollouts that both meet quality expectations and seem to meet like demand. Like you have to have people excited to buy the product.

Rick saying uh as far as Nike goes, they continue to lower quality. They have high pricing. That's what the the producer was just talking about. No celebrity endorsements will save them this time.

Time to recapture their image as a must-have brand.

I've seen uh a lot of stuff floating around on Twitter that the only hope that they have is Sydney Sweeney. Now, I don't know that I buy all of that. Realistically, or I should say more realistically, the quality of the product ultimately is going to have to get better there.

N up 30. Nike has been overpriced trash for a while. Uh, I'll buy Nike once they pay me for advertising. bring Nike many Manny Pacquiao shoes. Does Manny Pacquiao have a shoe line with Nike? I don't even think I knew that.

I used to spend $500 on three pair of Nikes. Jason, do you still do that or is that like gone? Is that like not a thing anymore?

Producer says Nike Golf is on the comeback. Lol. Um, which products? I guess the golf balls.
